Eligibility Criteria for Diploma in Optometry
Academic Qualifications:

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.

Must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics in 12th standard.

Minimum required marks: at least 45% aggregate in science subjects (40% for reserved categories like SC/ST).

English must be one of the subjects in the qualifying exam.

Students from State Open Schools, NIOS, or equivalent boards recognized by the Central/State Government are also eligible, provided they meet the subject and percentage criteria.
Eligibility for Foreign Nationals:

Must have an educational qualification equivalent to the Indian 10+2 standard.

The equivalence must be verified by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

It is the responsibility of the admitting institution and concerned State Council to ensure that the qualification meets prescribed standards.
Reservation Policy:

3% Reservation for Persons with Disabilities (PwD):

Candidates with 40% to 50% locomotor disability of the lower limbs are eligible.

Fitness and eligibility to be certified by a state-authorized medical board and nursing/optometry expert panel.

5% relaxation in qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates.

Additional reservations will apply as per the State Government’s reservation policy.

Other Conditions:

Minimum Age: 17 years (as on 31st December of the admission year)

Upper Age Limit: 35 years (may vary as per state/institute policy)

Candidates must be medically fit.

Admissions will be conducted once a year.
