Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc. Nursing

Academic Qualifications:

  • 10+2 with English and a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination from a recognized board. Must have Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects.

  • Candidates appearing from recognized State Boards, NIOS, or State Open Schools are also eligible, provided they meet the subject and mark requirements.

  • Science stream is mandatory for B.Sc. Nursing admissions.

  • Candidates with vocational courses in Health Care Science from a recognized CBSE board or vocational ANM course recognized by Indian Nursing Council are not eligible for B.Sc. Nursing, but may be eligible for GNM.

Age Limit:

  • Minimum age for admission is 17 years as on 31st December of the admission year.

  • Upper age limit is 35 years.

  • No age limit for registered ANM/LHV candidates.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidate must be medically fit.

  • Admission will be conducted once in a year.


Eligibility for Foreign Nationals:

  • Qualification equivalence (12th standard) must be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

  • The Institution and State Nursing Council must ensure that the foreign candidate’s qualification is equivalent to the Indian standard.


Reservation Policy:

  • 3% seats reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD):

    • Applicable for candidates with locomotor disability of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity.

    • A medical board consisting of a state government-authorized medical officer and a nursing expert will assess the disability.

  • 5% relaxation in qualifying marks for SC/ST candidates.

  • Other quotas/reservations as per State Government policy will be applicable.
